Installing DIN 8062 Metric Pressure pipes in Saudi Arabia requires consideration of extreme heat (40–50°C ambient), sandy and sabkha soil conditions, and the need for rapid construction timelines driven by Vision 2030 mega-project schedules. This guide covers jointing, trenching, bedding, backfill, and commissioning procedures per applicable standards (DIN 8061/8062, ISO 4422, SASO 14/15).

Hot Weather Installation Precautions

• Thermal Expansion Compensation: Allow 0.06–0.08 mm/m/°C expansion in long straight runs. Install during early morning or evening to minimize thermal shock at jointing.
• Solvent Cement Cure Time: In ambient temperatures above 40°C, solvent cement may cure faster than expected. Apply cement quickly and push home the socket joint within the open time specified for the cement grade.
• Pipe Storage on Site: Store pipes under shade cover (not directly on desert sand). Stack on flat timber supports maximum 1.5m high. Orient bundles to prevent end distortion from direct solar heating.
• Trench Backfill: For buried installations per ASTM D2321, use properly graded granular backfill material. Compact in 150mm lifts. Avoid rocky fill in direct contact with pipe barrel.
