Every vertical soil stack must extend full-bore through the roof to admit atmospheric air and prevent siphonage of fixture trap seals. For buildings exceeding 10 floors, secondary relief vents or parallel vent stacks are required.
A minimum 50 mm water seal depth (75 mm for high-demand commercial fixtures) is strictly required to prevent toxic sewer gases from entering living areas.
